Maria Theresa thaler (Maria Theresa thaler) also known as the Austrian Real or Maria Theresa Dollar is a silver coin minted in 1741 and named after Queen Maria Theresa who ruled Austria, Hungary, and Bohemia from 1740 to 1780. The Austrian Real was used in global trade continuously. On September 19, 1857, Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria declared the Maria Theresa Dollar as the official currency for trade in Austria.
